State of ignorance

To the editor:

I’ve noticed a common feature among the extremists like Sen. Susan Wagle who somehow keep getting elected to various state offices: They sure seem to hate the subject of biology. First, some extremists tried to remove evolution from the state science standards and now they are trying to stifle the teaching of human sexuality to college students. If you aren’t allowed to talk about either evolution or sex, that doesn’t leave a lot to say in biology class.

Of course it’s not just biology, but school in general that these people seem to dislike. They have a long track record of trying to slowly strangle our public schools by refusing to provide adequate funding. Why the rest of our elected politicians let them get as far as they do is a real mystery to me.

If these extremists want to live in a condition of willful ignorance, they are free to do so. However, they should not be allowed to drag the rest of the state down with them.
