Marion ‘Shorty’ Weidler

? Services for Marion “Shorty” Weidler, 69, Topeka, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, Topeka. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka.

Mr. Weidler died Monday, May 12, 2003, at his home.

He was born Oct. 11, 1933, in Auxvasse, Mo., the son of James Cecil and Mae (Mosley) Weidler. He graduated from St. Joseph High School and Central Missouri Junior College. He had lived in Topeka for 28 years.

Mr. Weidler was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years before retiring in 1973 at the rank of major. He served in Vietnam.

He worked for the U.S. Postal Service from 1976 until his retirement in 1996.

He married Donna J. Lynd on Nov. 16, 1957, in Topeka. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Lisa Miller, Lawrence, Kim Weidler, Topeka, and Dina Levering, Manhattan; a son, Bryan, Wichita; a brother, Bob, Jefferson City, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends an hour prior to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
