Missing Oklahoma girl spotted in Topeka

Kansas Bureau of Investigation officials say a missing Oklahoma girl and the suspect in her abduction might have been spotted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Topeka.

The girl, 10-year-old Shawnda Marie Cheney, disappeared May 10 from Stillwater and is believed to be with Presley Earl Hood, a 56-year-old white male.

Someone called the KBI Tuesday afternoon saying the two were at the Topeka Travel Plaza truck stop in a dark grey or black Dodge pickup bearing Veterans’ license plate 41005. The girl was wearing sweat pants and a Kansas City Chiefs jacket. The man was wearing a white and blue plaid western-style shirt.

Stillwater police believe Hood is en route to Branson, Mo. and have asked Kansas law-enforcement officials to publicize the girl’s disappearance.
