Lions’ Andrews leads city golfers

? Lawrence High senior Scott Andrews shot a 73 at Monday’s Leavenworth Invitational, good for 11th overall, and was the city’s highest individual placer.

Andrews played on the Lions’ four-man group, which was eighth overall. The tournament was split into four- and two-man fields to provide a change of pace from the usual six-man groupings.

“Each team still took six golfers, but it was just to do something different,” LHS coach Ron Commons said. “It’s a little different because there’s some strategy involved.”

The Firebirds were ninth in four-man and 11th in two-man.
