George R. Waisner

Services for George R. Waisner, 82, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clinton Cemetery.

Mr. Waisner died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 31, 1921, in Climax Springs, Mo., the son of Wesley G. and Dicie L. (Flippen) Waisner.

Mr. Waisner served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He received four bronze stars and a good conduct medal.

He worked for the road maintenance department in Clinton Township for 14 years and for the Douglas County Public Works Department for 17 years. He retired in 1983.

He married Luella Lorraine Neffendorf on July 25, 1942, in Sedalia, Mo. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Gene, Berryton, Wayne, Baldwin, and John, Eudora; two daughters, Irene Wissler and Barbara Rollins, both of Lawrence; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Assn., sent in care of the funeral home.
