Manhattan ? Free State High’s tennis squad finished second Saturday at the 12-team Manhattan Invitational.

Ben Cropp went 4-1 in No. 1 singles, good for fifth place, and Alan Martinez was 2-1 and took second in No. 2 singles. Jason Kroge played as an independent, going 3-2 and taking sixth.

The Firebirds’ duo of Eyad Safadi and Matt Schwabauer finished eighth at No. 1 doubles with a 2-3 record, while FSHS’s No. 2 tandem of Bryan Maygers and Eric Show took third with a 2-1 record.

Free State’s next action is Tuesday at the Sunflower League meet at Shawnee Mission East.
