KU earns NCAA berth

Kansas University’s men’s golf team was selected to compete in the NCAA Central Regional, which runs May 15-17 at Colbert Hills Golf Club in Manhattan.

KU, seeded 24th in the 27-team field, will compete against eight other Big 12 Conference schools at the regional — Texas, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Missouri and Kansas State.

“It is certainly a relief for our team to be in,” KU coach Ross Randall said. “It has been a long and difficult season for all of our players. Needless to say, I am very pleased we are still able to play.”

The top 10 finishers in each of three regionals will qualify for the NCAA Finals, May 27-30 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla. The top two individuals not part of the top 10 teams also qualify.
