Kansas baseball busy

Jayhawks making up two games this week

It’ll be a busy midweek for the Kansas University baseball team.

Thanks to a rainout two weeks ago, the Jayhawks will play two non-conference games this week. First up is Washburn University at 5 p.m. today at Hoglund Ballpark.

Washburn, a Division II squad from Topeka, will be KU’s last home game until May 17, the last weekend of the regular season.

Wednesday, Kansas will travel to Wichita State. The game was originally scheduled April 23, but was postponed because of bad weather.

The teams met last Tuesday in Lawrence — the Shockers prevailed, 7-2.

Kansas (33-21) has lost four of its last five, including a series loss to No. 5 Texas last weekend. The Jayhawks return to Big 12 Conference play Friday with the start of a three-game set with Texas A&M at College Station, Texas. The Aggies, ranked No. 12 nationally by College Baseball News, are 14-7 in Big 12 play, good enough for third place. Kansas is 8-13 and in seventh place.
