Chicago Board of Trade

Substantial rains in the corn belt sent corn futures sharply higher Monday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat also advanced, while soybeans fell.

Heavy rains in the Midwest over the weekend led to planting delays for corn farmers, pushing prices more than 2 percent higher.

Wheat climbed to one-week highs amid crop concerns and improved weekly export inspections.

Soybeans declined on bearish technical signals.

Wheat for July delivery rose 5 cents to $2.88 3/4 a bushel; July corn rose 4 3/4 cents to $2.37 1/4 a bushel; July oats rose 2 cents to $1.50 1/4 a bushel; July soybeans fell 3 1/4 cents to $6.27 3/4 a bushel.

Beef futures declined while pork futures settled mixed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

June live cattle fell .35 cent to 73 cents a pound; August feeder cattle fell .05 cent to 84.55 cents a pound; June lean hogs rose .22 cent to 64.77 cents a pound; July pork bellies fell .08 cent to 92.37 cents a pound.
