Woman gets 25 years for driving into couple
Kansas City, Mo. -- A woman was sentenced to 25 years in prison for killing the wife of the father of her children.
Aleicia Nolan, 25, killed Ana Rios, 39, and injured Anastacio Rios, 39, last year as the Kansas City, Kan., couple walked to work on Feb. 7, 2002. Nolan drove her Dodge Neon into the victims, then ran away.
Nolan told police she loved Anastacio Rios and had three young children by him, but he was married to Ana Rios.
Nolan had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action.
On Friday, Jackson County Circuit Judge K. Preston Dean sentenced her to 25 years in prison.
"There is absolutely no sense to what I did," Nolan said at the sentencing.
Traffic accident kills 2
Lockwood, Mo. -- A Joplin man and his 7-year-old daughter were killed Friday in a two-vehicle accident in southwest Missouri, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
Michael J. Culbertson, 29, and his daughter, Chasity Culbertson, died about 4 p.m. after Culbertson fell asleep while driving. Their car crossed the centerline of Highway 160 in Dade County and collided head on with a truck.
The accident happened just west of Lockwood.
