Movement’s healing power focus of health event

Kansas City, Mo. — Acclaimed movement therapist Rebecca Gorrell will be the guest at the third annual Speaking of Women’s Health spring event at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Gorrell and dancer Claire Hancock will chronicle the psychological and cultural history of women’s relationships with their bodies and motion through dance, athletics, fitness and emerging mind/body movement forms.

The event, a benefit for KCPT and the women of Kansas City, is presented by KCPT and Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Bachathon to feature area musicians, dancers

Kansas City, Mo. — A sampling of Bach’s works will be featured today during the 24th annual Bachathon.

The event is free and open to the public.

The celebration begins at 2 p.m. and concludes at 7:30 p.m. at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, 13th and Broadway, Kansas City, Mo.

Bachathon will bring together more than 50 area musicians and present authentically costumed baroque dancers. Ensembles include Schola Cantorum and the KU Early Dance Ensemble.
