LHS golfers seventh at Hutch

? Lawrence High’s golf team turned in a season-best 313, good for seventh overall, at the 36-team Hutchinson Invitational Friday at Carey Park.

LHS junior Daniel Brumley won a three-hole playoff for 14th place and was the Lions’ lone medalist, carding a 74 — one of 17 players that shot 74 or better.

“They parred the first, parred the second and went back to the first playoff hole and decided the closest to the pin would get 14th,” LHS coach Ron Commons said. “Daniel got up there and hit it within about 10 feet.”

All five LHS golfers shot 84 or better.

Blue Valley West won the team title, shooting a tournament-record 289, and had the individual winner in junior Zach Pederson, who shot a 67.

The Lions play again Wednesday in the Olathe North Invitational at Prairie Highlands.
