Meldean Pearson

Graveside services for Meldean Pearson, 70, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Pearson died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 21, 1932, in Lawrence, the daughter of Perry L. and Katherine O’Dell (Carter) Hicks.

Mrs. Pearson operated one of the first day-care centers in North Lawrence and was known as “Grandma Dean.” She also was a homemaker.

She was a member of the North Lawrence Baptist Church.

She married Clyde McMillin. They later divorced. She married Cecil R. Pearson on July 29, 1983. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Charles R. McMillin, Oskaloosa, Richard D. McMillin, Lawrence, and Mark P. McMillin, Perry; a daughter, Connie S. McMillin, Ozawkie; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Teresa E. McMillin, died earlier.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to noon, Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
