Control costs

To the editor:

Based on the articles and pictures included in Section B of the March 24 Journal-World, it appears that your newspaper is “stumping” for passage of the bond that the school board, in cahoots with DLR Group, is trying to shove down the throats of taxpayers.

Perhaps reporter Tim Carpenter should also include articles and pictures of the unemployed, those whose incomes are being reduced and those being heavily taxed by Douglas County (just to name a few).

Wake up folks! Present economic conditions do not warrant this bond. Taxpayers are struggling and they do not have recourse to bonds and tax increases to gain additional income.

Our school board, county commissioners and state government need to learn how to control expenses. We taxpayers are doing it out of necessity. Let’s make do with what we have. State of the art will be fine when we can afford it.
