To the editor:

We support Vote Yes for Lawrence Kids and passage of the bond issue for the following reasons:

• Better education: The educational process and outcome should improve with more efficient or right-sized schools. If schools are too small, the flexibility to keep the class size low is lost.
• Better neighborhoods: Improved facilities should create more interest in repopulating the central neighborhoods than if the facilities are left to deteriorate.
• Better economy: Good public schools help employers decide to locate in Lawrence. New construction will create jobs, which will add to the economy.
• No better time: The school board, after considerable public and professional input, put together a bond issue that will efficiently invest our community resources. Costs will always rise and the interest cost for the bonds will likely never be lower.
• DLR is not the enemy. Our school board sought the professional expertise of DLR to assist with our facilities evaluation. We have always used construction managers on past construction project, so this is a reasonable expense.

Please take the time to study the issues and vote.
