Lewis R. Edwards

Services for Lewis R. Edwards, 84, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial with military honors by Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 of the American Legion will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Edwards died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch, Calif.

He was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Bushnell Township, Mich., the son of Elmer and Jennie (Worthy) Edwards.

Mr. Edwards worked for Lawrence Paper Co. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Dionysios Greek Orthodox Church and Red Dale Campers.

He married Roxany Ruth Cheulakes on Dec. 24, 1944, in Greenville, Mich. She died Dec. 24, 2000.

Survivors include twin daughters Gail J. Hurlbert, Discovery Bay, Calif., and Gloria J. Hare, Bloomfield, N.M.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Two children, twin babies, died at birth.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the funeral home.
