Nominations open for governor’s arts awards

? Nominations for the 2003 Kansas Governor’s Arts Awards are being accepted by the Kansas Arts Commission until May 1.

Any Kansas resident or organization may submit a nomination in one of six categories: individual artist, arts organization, art educator, arts advocate, individual patron or patron organization. Individual artists may be in the visual, performing, literary, folk or media arts.

Nominees must be Kansas residents or Kansas-based organizations. Previous honorees, current members of the commission or its staff and art projects or programs are not eligible.

Nominations either must be received in the Kansas Arts Commission office by 5 p.m. May 1 or be postmarked no later than the deadline date. Metered mail is not acceptable as a postmark.

Award recipients will be selected by a panel including members of the Kansas Arts Commission, a representative of the Governor, and representatives from various arts disciplines and organizations.
