William V. Meyers

Plainville ? Services for William V. Meyers, 93, Plainville, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Mr. Meyers died Thursday, March 20, 2003, at Rooks County Health Center in Plainville.

He was born Sept. 8, 1909, in Rooks County, the son of William and Anna (Havlas) Meyers. He was a lifelong Plainville area resident and farmer.

Mr. Meyers was also a manager for Graves Truck Line, an oil field pumper, Rooks County assessor and a carpenter. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council No. 1857 in Plainville.

He married Freeda Casey on Jan. 9, 1933, in Plainville. She died Jan. 5, 1999.

Survivors include two daughters, LaVivian Drake, Lawrence, and Sonja McMullen, Great Bend; four sons, Greg, Plainville, Bill, Olathe, James, Reno, Nev., and Michael, Bakersfield, Calif.; a brother, Edmund, Plainville; two sisters, Lenora Garvert, Plainville, and Grace Mongeau, Zurich; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

A granddaughter died earlier.

The family suggests memorials to the church or Sacred Heart School, sent in care of the funeral chapel, 409 S. Cochran, Plainville 67663.
