Douglas County Family and Community Education in cooperation with K-State Research and Extension Family and Consumer Sciences is offering a program “Fish! Catch the Energy, Release the Potential” at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Deal Six auditorium at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper St.

The presenter will be Trudy Rice, Douglas County Extension director.

The seminar will look at Seattle’s world-famous Pike Place Fish, a fish market, and its workers’ positive attitudes.

To register, call the Extension Office at 843-7058. The program is free and open to the public.

The Douglas County Family and Community Education Council met March 4 in Deal Six auditorium.

It was announced that the spring achievement tea will be April 29 in Building 21 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds. Aliene Bieber will present the program about aprons.

K-State Research and Extension Family and Consumer Sciences will sponsor a booth, “Supersizing of America,” March 29 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Health Fair. Alice Eisle, Myrna Hartford, Lola Ford and Darlene Bright will assist with the booth.

It was decided that Willmyra and Stull FCE units will furnish cookies for the blood drive on April 15 at First Christian Church.

The next council meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. April 8 at Bismarck Lake House.

The Meadowlark 4-H Club met March 11 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds. Members answered roll call by saying what they would do for spring break.

It was Parents Night, and parents conducted the meeting. Kay Miller was president, and Karen Pendleton was secretary.

The club decided to enter a banner at the Douglas County Free Fair. Members are considering taking a club trip to Chicago or Branson, Mo. T.K. Pracht and John Pendleton spoke about the rocketry project.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. April 8 at the fairgrounds. Members will make tray favors before the meeting. Members enrolled in the food project will give the program. The Magerl family will be hosts.
