Helen E. Broky

Blue Rapids ? Services for Helen E. Broky, 82, Blue Rapids, were Saturday at United Presbyterian Church in Blue Rapids. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery north of Blue Rapids.

Mrs. Broky died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at her home.

She was born Oct. 29, 1920, in Louisville, Ky., the daughter of Lee and Sophia (Schmidt) Heina. She attended schools in Louisville and moved to Blue Rapids in 1937. She graduated from Blue Rapids High School in 1939.

Mrs. Broky moved to Louisville after high school, then returned to Blue Rapids in 1945 to care for Broky’s Hardware, where she was a bookkeeper and clerk. She was a homemaker and taught Sunday school for 30 years, Scripture memorization for 25 years and led a weekly Bible study for young women. She was a member of United Presbyterian Church of Blue Rapids.

She married Rudolph J. Broky on June 23, 1939, in Louisville. He died July 26, 1997.

Survivors include three sons, Neil Broky, Lawrence, Wayne Broky, Tempe, Ariz., and Kenneth Broky, St. Louis; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
