Cowgirls send Tigers packing

? Trisha Skibbe made two free throws with 18.1 seconds left as Oklahoma State upended sixth-seeded Missouri, 56-54, Tuesday night in the first round of the Big 12 Conference women’s tournament.

After Skibbe made her foul shots, Missouri had a final chance to tie or win, but Tracy Lozier missed a three-pointer and Evan Unrau couldn’t convert the tip.

Eleventh-seeded Oklahoma State (8-20) held off a late push by Missouri (15-13) by hitting 6-of-8 free throws in the final six minutes.

“We got relaxed, then it got fun,” said senior guard Meghan Craig, who scored 12 points for OSU. “We were right there with them. They had more on their shoulders in this game and we had nothing to lose.”

Skibbe finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Thia Willis had 12 points.

Oklahoma State managed to win in the day’s most dramatic game despite being outrebounded 47-30, committing 22 turnovers and shooting 35 percent (17-of-49) from the field.

Missouri was led by Unrau’s 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Stretch James added 16 points and 12 rebounds.
