Simon Fraser dominates Day Three of NAIA swim/dive meet

Mighty Simon Fraser University won nine of 12 events and set two more records at Day Three of the NAIA Swimming and Diving Championships Friday at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center.

Simon Fraser won five of six women’s events and four of six men’s events Friday and set meet records in the men’s 200-yard medley relay in 1:31.17 and the women’s 100 breast, when Kathleen Stoody won the event in 1:03.45, bettering an 8-year-old mark by nearly two seconds.

Simon Fraser, of British Columbia, Canada, won the men’s and women’s 200 medley relay, men’s 400 individual medley, men’s and women’s 100 butterfly, women’s 200 free, men’s 100 breaststroke and women’s 100 backstroke.

Cal Baptist won the other three events: the women’s 400 individual medley, men’s 200 freestyle and men’s 100 backstroke.

Today is the final day of the event.

Preliminaries will start at 10 a.m., and finals will start at 6 tonight at the Indoor Aquatic Center.
