Biscuit, gravy feed to benefit campers

Camp Adventure in Perry will sponsor a craft show and biscuit and gravy feed to support its weeklong summer camp program.

Biscuits and gravy will be served from 8 a.m. to noon March 22 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 23. The craft portion of the show will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 22 and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 23. Admission is free, and the event will be at the Perry American Legion, 24 Highway and Perry Place.

Camp Adventure, established in 1973, is a way for physically disabled youths to participate in a summer camp experience. It is a not-for-profit organization that relies on donations and volunteer efforts. Part of the money raised will go toward children who cannot afford the $600 cost to attend.

Kidney foundation collects vehicles

The National Kidney Foundation of Kansas and Western Missouri is collecting used cars, vans, trucks and boats. The vehicles will be sold at auction or for parts, with proceeds benefiting the foundation.

Media law scholar to speak at seminar

A two-time Pulitzer Prize winner will headline a media law seminar organized by Kansas University Continuing Education.

Anthony Lewis, now a visiting professor at Columbia University, will speak at the 16th annual Media and the Law seminar April 25 at the Downtown Marriott in Kansas City, Mo.

Lewis was a reporter for the Washington Daily News in 1955 when he won a Pulitzer for a series of stories on a Navy employee who was wrongfully discharged. He won another in 1963 while working for The New York Times for his coverage of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Other topics at the seminar include libel law, mediation strategies and reporters’ privilege. The seminar also is sponsored by the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Assn.

Districts to interview teachers at KU

Representatives from about 90 school districts from across the country will be at Kansas University Wednesday to interview prospective teachers.

The 22nd annual Education Interview Day will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Kansas Union. Interviews may be scheduled onsite at 9 a.m. that day.

Districts scheduled to attend are from nine states and major metropolitan areas such as Topeka; Wichita; Kansas City; St. Louis; Omaha, Neb.; Lincoln, Neb.; Tulsa, Okla.; San Antonio; Dallas-Fort Worth; and Houston.
