Bike Race: Mojo’s Spring Fling Bike Race is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Clinton Lake campground No. 1. The event is free to youths ages 8-15. For information, call Jim Whittaker at 843-8356 or visit the Web site at www.alta-sport.com.

  • Jones Fifth: Abby Jones of Lawrence finished fifth in the Level 9 all-around at the McCracken Invitational gymnastics meet. Jones competes for Diamond Gymnastics in Overland Park.
  • Goble, Hardy Mine Gold: Mike Goble and Jesse Hardy of the Jayhawk Kids Wrestling Club earned gold medals last weekend at both the Blazer Invitational and the Lawrence Junior Open. Also at the Junior Open, JKWC’s Scott Deo placed second and teammates Caleb Gress and Zack Toelkes earned thirds. Ben Abernathy had a fourth place.
  • D’Armond Takes First: Caleb D’Armond of the Lawrence Junior Wrestling Club captured first place Sunday at the Lawrence Junior Open. LJWC silver medalists were Devan Probst, Jeremiah Kerr, Harley Wilks-Brooks, Ross Engle and Adrian Tubbs. Thirds went to Garrett Girard, Stephen Hodges and Joey Dewey, and fourths to Dylan Housworth, Spencer Chestnut, Ammon Austin and Brett Anderson.
  • Girls Mat Medals: Desiree Housworth, Amanda Morris and Carissa Nott of the Lawrence Junior Wrestling Club picked up second-place medals at the girls state championships last weekend in Atchison. Thirds went to Deidre Housworth, Misty Hayes and Summer Wilks. Emma Mercer of the Jayhawk Kids Wrestling Club also earned a bronze medal. LJWC’s Katrina Hayes and Brianna Hayes finished fourth.
  • Weightlifters: Lawrence’s Andrea Stoneback, Bill Stoneback, Micah Clark and Kate Naramore will travel to Orlando later this month to compete in the USAW Junior National Weightlifting championships.
  • Level 7 Champs: Lawrence Gymnastic Academy’s Level 7 won the team title at a meet in its gym Feb. 22. Team members are Sarah Athey, Morgan Harris, Sara Hase, April Miller, Chelsey Ornburn and Meredith West. Miller and West earned gold medals in all-around. The same team finished fifth at the McCracken Invitational.
  • Level 9 Runners-Up: Jennifer Hornbaker finished third in the all-around to pace Lawrence Gymnastics Academy’s Level 9 team to second place at the McCracken Invitational. Teammates Mallory West and Kara Kellison finished in the top 10.
  • Suh, Krische Shine: Jindalae Suh and Leigh Ann Krische of Kansas School of Gymnastics earned second places in the all-around at the Shannon Martin Memorial meet Feb. 15 at Robinson Gym. Third places in all-around went to Stephanie Brown, Paulina Rodriquez and Courtney Richmond. Also competing were Mariana Foster, Allison Williams, Kamira Wisdom, Amber Weeks, Stevi Wisdom, Lauren McGarity, Meglin Rego, Caitlin Fisher, Brittanie Williams and Samantha Schueler.
  • Hoopsters Reception: Lawrence Hoopsters Basketball will hold an awards reception at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday at the 4-H Fairgrounds, Building 21. Postseason awards will be presented. For information, call Rick McNabb at 749-4664.
