Weather brings cancellations and reschedulings

A number of activities have been canceled or rescheduled because of the winter storm. The following is the latest list called in to the News Center.

School cancellations

The following school districts canceled classes Wednesday: Baldwin; Eudora; Garnett; Lawrence; McLouth; Ottawa; Perry-Lecompton; Santa Fe Trail; Tonganoxie; Wellsville; West Franklin.

In addition, Bishop Seabury Academy, Veritas School, Brook Creek Learning Center, Lawrence Catholic School (St. John’s and Corpus Christi campuses), Raintree Montessori School and First Presbyterian Preschool called off classes.

Other cancellations
¢ The First Church of the Nazarene , 1470 N. 1000 Rd., has canceled its regular Wednesday evening activities.

  • Douglas County Commission evening meeting with Baldwin school board.
  • Peace rally at Kansas University. The “Books not Bombs National Student Strike against the War with Iraq” has been rescheduled to be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Wescoe Beach.
  • Older Women’s League afternoon meeting at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt.
  • All activities for Wednesday evening are canceled at the Free Methodist Church.
