KC clubs Cubs, 9-2

? Carlos Beltran hit a two-run triple and the Kansas City Royals cruised Sunday to a 9-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

Sammy Sosa missed his second straight game for the Cubs with a tight right quadriceps muscle.

Sosa said he would return to the lineup in “a couple of days.”

The Royals remained perfect in spring training at 4-0. Chicago fell to 1-2.

Luis Ordaz led off the game with a single against Cubs starting pitcher Matt Clement. After Julius Matos walked, Beltran slapped a triple to left-center. Mike Sweeney drove in Beltran with a groundout.

The Royals increased the lead to 4-0 in the second inning when Ordaz drove in Jarrod Patterson with a single.

Royals starter Darrell May pitched two hitless innings, walking one and striking out one.
