Volunteer guardians sought

Agency: Kansas Guardianship Program

Address: 3248 Kimball Ave., Manhattan

Contact person: Laura Dickinson, (800) 672-0086, ext. 26

The Kansas Guardianship Program needs dedicated volunteers to serve as guardians or conservators for Kansans who have been found legally unable to manage their lives and finances. These adults are of limited financial means and have no family to be appointed as guardian or conservator. Volunteers would have legal and practical responsibility for their wards. They would be expected to seek access to physical and physiological treatment as needed, monitor quality of supports and services, provide necessary consents, visit two to four times per month, manage finances and estate, and provide necessary paperwork for the courts and other services. The program helps volunteers by providing training and assistance in finding services and providing a small stipend to help ease out-of-pocket expenses. Volunteers will make monthly reports to the program.
