Renegades notch 10th straight victory

? It’s 10 wins in a row for Lawrence’s Renegades, who defeated Shawnee Mission North, 11-3, and SM West, 10-2, in a pair of run-shortened games Friday at the Johnson County 3-and-2 tournament.

Cal Heinrich went 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double and five RBIs in the second game. Devon Myers was 2-2 with three runs scored, Ryan Engel 2-3 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs, while Joe Crane was 2-3. Winning pitcher Seth Johnson scattered six hits.

In the first game, Engel was 2-4 with three RBIs, Kyle McManness 2-3 with three runs scored and an RBI and Courtney Hutchison 2-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. John Parker allowed six hits while striking out eight. He did not allow an earned run.

“Our pitching is always there,” Renegades’ skipper Lynn Harrod said. “Our hitting has been great in this winning streak. We’re averaging over 10 runs a game. Our top of the order has been phenomenal with McManness, Engel and Heinrich.

The Renegades, 12-6, will play at 10:15 a.m. and 7:15 p.m. today at the 16-team tournament.
