Injury accidents

  • Daniel L. Riemann, 20, Lansing, was treated and released from Lawrence Memorial Hospital Friday for injuries received in a motorcycle accident Friday afternoon on U.S. Highway 40. Riemann was traveling west when he left the roadway and entered a north ditch. He was thrown off the motorcycle and landed in the westbound lane. He was not wearing a helmet.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A half side of beef valued at $400, two coolers valued at $30 and a trailer valued at $750 were taken in a burglary and theft reported by a 54-year-old Lawrence man. The burglary occurred between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of East 1000 Road.
  • A gold wedding band valued at $300, a Journal-World payroll check valued at $393.06 and 17 personal checks were among the items taken in a theft reported by a 42-year-old Lecompton man. The theft occurred between 7 p.m. May 18 and 11:53 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of Whitfield in Lecompton.
  • A light brown Longhorn-Maverick saddle valued at $700 and a dark brown Circle-Y saddle valued at $375 were reported taken by a 48-year-old Lawrence woman. Damage to a steel door was estimated at $250. The burglary occurred between 7 a.m. and 4:10 p.m. Monday in the 1500 block of North 1100 Road.
  • A Hewlett Packard computer and 17-inch monitor valued at $1,200 and a 27-inch RCA color television were among the items taken in a burglary and theft reported by a 53-year-old Baldwin man. Total damages are estimated at $3,305. The burglary occurred between 8:45 a.m. and 3 p.m. June 5 in the 200 block of East 750 Road in Baldwin.
  • A Hewlett Packard notebook computer valued at $1,391.69 was taken in a theft reported by a 40-year-old Olathe woman. The theft occurred between 8 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. May 31 in the 2500 block of Iowa Street.
