Baseball doles out suspensions

? Philadelphia pitcher Carlos Silva was suspended for six games, and Cincinnati teammates Adam Dunn and Sean Casey each drew three-game suspensions Friday for a brawl last week.

Also Friday, a total of six players from Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay were disciplined Friday for their involvement in a bench-clearing brawl during a game last Sunday.

Marlon Anderson and Carl Crawford of the Devil Rays were each suspended for three games for fighting and fined an undisclosed amount. Pirates pitcher Julian Tavarez and catcher Jason Kendall also drew three-game suspensions and fines for fighting.

Casey and Silva both appealed the suspensions and will not serve them until hearings are held. Dunn negotiated his suspension down to two games and will serve it beginning Friday night.

Phillies manager Larry Bowa was suspended for today’s game against Boston.
