Mrs. George died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at her home.

She was born Sept. 5, 1942, in McPherson, the daughter of John and Vera (Colwell) Smith. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School.

She worked on the family dairy farm before working for Commerce Plaza in 1981. She was a sales associate for Bud Jennings from 1985 until her death. She recently was awarded salesperson of the year for Bud Jennings.

She married LeRoy George on March 3, 1962. He died Nov. 7, 1993.

Survivors include a son, Eugene George, Baldwin; a daughter, Sherri Brown, Baldwin; two sisters, Janet Harper, Lake Orion, Mich., and Jeanne Adams, Winchester; a brother, Roy Smith, Eudora; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.

The family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society, sent in care of the funeral home.
