James A. Pierce

? Services for James A. Pierce, 59, Lyndon, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lyndon United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Stull Cemetery.

Mr. Pierce died Monday, June 16, 2003, at his home.

He was born Jan. 21, 1944, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Glen and Doris (Spence) Pierce.

Mr. Pierce worked for Hallmark Cards and Douglas County Hatchery before becoming a freight accountant for the Santa Fe Railway, where he worked for 26 years. He had also been a bus driver for the Lyndon school district, and had worked for the Vassar Post Office and Lamont Hill Golf Course. He was a member of Lyndon United Methodist Church, Lyndon Jaycees, S.W. Bowling League, Santa Fe Bowling Team, Lamont Hill Men’s League and Forbes Field Men’s Club, and was president of Flint Hills Baseball Assn.

He married Joyce Schwemmer on Feb. 25, 1966, in Stull. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Jeff, Lawrence; a daughter, Jennifer Hamlet, Lyndon; a brother, Kerry, Lawrence; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Feltner Chapel, Lyndon, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
