Stained glass flag being installed at Dole Institute

What is believed to be the largest stained glass flag in the world was being installed Tuesday at Kansas University’s new Dole Institute of Politics.

Piece by piece, the colorful glass rendition of the American flag was being hoisted at the Dole Institute, located on KU’s west campus by a Minnesota company.

The flag, which weighs a ton and contains nearly 1,000 pieces of red, white and blue glass, was made by American companies.

Youghiogheny Opalescent Glass Co., Inc., Connellsville, Penn., produced all the glass in the American flag. All the artwork and production was completed in the St. Paul/Minneapolis area of Minnesota.
