Reorganization planned for KU student center

Kansas University’s Student Organizations and Leadership Development Center is about to change names and add four programs.

Effective July 1, the center will be called the Center for Campus Life. Four programs now part of the Student Development Center — the Emily Taylor Women’s Resource Center, Men’s Outreach Program, Nontraditional Student Services and Lesbian/Bisexual/Gay/Transgender Services — will be added.

Those four programs are currently located in Strong Hall. Their offices will be moved to be with other student offices in the Kansas Union.

“These changes will consolidate very important services and make them more accessible and effective for students,” said Danny Kaiser, director of the Center for Campus Life. “The union is the hub of student activity on campus, so locating all these services together in the same office will only improve them.”

The changes are based on results of this spring’s Student Senate Task Force on Women Students’ Needs and the Office of the Provost’s Task Force on the Structure and Delivery of Student Services report.
