Chris Gabriel went 2-for-3 and stroked a game-winning RBI double in the fifth inning of the Outlaws’ 4-3, 18-under American Legion baseball victory Thursday over Topeka Post 74 at Ice Field.

“Gabriel hit his double, and right after that there was a flash of lightning near the field,” Outlaws coach Matt Schubert said. “We delayed it, then we called it.”

The second game was canceled because of rain.

Lawrence (4-3) will travel to Eudora today to face Olathe South.
