Wright services

Services for Kurtis Lee Wright Sr., 43, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Wright died of an apparent heart attack Friday, June 6, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 29, 1959, in Muenchweiler, Germany, the son of Wilbur Lee and Virginia Jean (Peters) Wright.

Mr. Wright grew up in Lawrence and graduated in 1977 from Lawrence High School. He attended Kansas University and was a car salesman for Topeka Volkswagen-Porsche. He later enlisted in the Navy and after being discharged in 1984 worked five years as an apprentice lineman for Virginia Electric Power Co., then 10 years as a journeyman lineman before moving back to Lawrence, where he worked out of Union Hall No. 304.

Mr. Wright was a member of First Baptist Church, Lawrence, and Elks Lodge, Virginia Beach, Va.

Survivors include his father, Lawrence; two sons, Kurtis Lee Jr. and Michael Conrad, both of Virginia Beach; and two brothers, Kyle, Virginia Beach, and Karl, Pomona.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church Building Fund or Gene and Barbara Burnett Burn Center at KU Med, Kansas City, Kan., sent in care of the funeral home.
