Raiders sweep doubleheader

? Lawrence’s Raiders blasted Paola, 10-5 and 18-0, in an American Legion baseball doubleheader Tuesday night at Paola’s field.

The Raiders pounded 13 hits in the first game and 21 in the second.

Taylor Martin hit a grand slam and had five RBIs in the opener. Also, Andrew Pyle, Tommy Mangino, Aaron Madill and Kyle Unruh had two hits apiece.

In Game Two, Chris Coleman went 4-for-5 with two RBIs. Blake Dickson was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Derek Bailey was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Dominick Harrell slugged three hits in five at-bats, while Tyler Blankenship was 2-for-3 and David Arndt 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

“Everybody played both games. Every time I’d go up with massive substitutions, she (scorer) would say, ‘Don’t you have anybody who can’t hit?”’ Raiders’ skipper Carl Brooks said. “We really swung the bats well. We had two errors all day and are also pleased with our pitchers. It was good.”
