Assistant Missouri A.G. tapped for post at KU

Kansas University announced Tuesday that Sara Trower has been named associate general counsel for KU’s Lawrence campus.

Trower, an assistant attorney general for the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, will take on her new post June 19, according to James Pottorff, KU general counsel.

“Sara Trower brings 15 years of highly successful litigation experience in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies,” Pottorff said. “Her previous practice in employment discrimination, civil rights, constitutional, tort and administrative law prepares her especially well for the wide spectrum of legal matters handled daily by the General Counsel’s Office.”

Trower has been in the Missouri Attorney General’s Office since 1987. That includes 11 years in the Litigation Division, where she served as trial team leader and senior litigation counsel. She also served as counsel in the office’s divisions of Governmental Affairs and Criminal Appeals.

Trower received a bachelor’s degree in history and economics in 1984 from William Woods College in Fulton, Mo. She received a law degree in 1987 from the University of Missouri School of Law, where she was on the dean’s list.

Trower was selected from a field of 100 applicants for the position vacated May 2 by Barbara McCloud, who left KU for a position with the Snell & Wilmer law firm in Phoenix.
