Lela Siebert

Mrs. Siebert died Saturday, May 31, 2003, in Carbondale.

She was born June 23, 1911, in Baileyville, Kan., the daughter of Frederich “Fritz” and Anna Christina Hunninghake. She lived in Emporia, Kan., from 1930 to 1972, when she moved to Pilsen, Kan. She moved in 1991 to Marion, Kan., and in 2002 to Basalt.

Mrs. Siebert worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 35 years until she retired in 1972. She then was a housekeeper at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ladies’ Altar Society, Telephone Pioneers of America, Holy Family Catholic Parish, St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary and Athena Club.

She married Ellsworth Thomson “Bud” Siebert on Sept. 6, 1930, in Denver. He died in 1951.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Pilant, Lawrence, Kan., and Susann Siebert, Basalt; two sons, Donald “Corky” Siebert, Wichita, Kan., and Douglas Siebert; and two grandchildren.

An infant son, Ronald Siebert, died in 1950.
