Stay in a lighthouse in Great Britain

Trinity House, the organization responsible for the upkeep of lighthouses along Britain’s rugged coastline, has made staying in a lighthouse possible.

The cottages beside the lighthouses where the keepers lived have been modernized and are being leased. Available year-round, they’re managed by Rural Retreats.

Eight sites are available, and four more will be added this year. For more information, see www.ruralretreats.co.uk.

Consumer Reports ranks theme parks

Consumer Reports, usually the source for information on toasters or Toyotas, tackles the theme park in its June issue. Nearly 2,500 readers responded to a survey on the best parks in the nation. The conclusion: Disney rules — with a few exceptions.

The three top-rated parks — Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios and Magic Kingdom — are all in Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The next two are also Orlando-area attractions: Sea World and Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

They’re followed by Sea World (San Diego), Disney’s Animal Kingdom (Lake Buena Vista, Fla.), Disneyland (Anaheim, Calif.), Cedar Point (Sandusky, Ohio), Busch Gardens (Tampa Bay, Fla.), Universal Studios (Orlando), Knotts Berry Farm (Buena Park, Calif.), Universal Studios Hollywood (Universal City, Calif.) and Disney’s California Adventure (Anaheim, Calif.)

Wedding guests can get an airline discount

A new American Airlines discount can help take the sting out of the cost of attending a wedding.

The Group & Meeting Travel Wedding Program offers discounts of up to 10 percent off American’s lowest published airfares when 10 or more passengers travel to a wedding celebration.

The discount can be used for weddings, after-wedding parties or reunions. Itineraries and origin cities may vary as long as the destination city is the same.

Customers may submit a request for a group discount online through www.aa.com/group.
