Outdoor Adventure Camp slated for youths this summer at Rock Springs 4-H

? Now in its 15th year, the Outdoor Adventure Camp is a six-day summer camp for kids who either enjoy the outdoors or want to learn more about it.

The camp is scheduled July 19-24 at the Camp WaShunGa area of Rock Springs 4-H Center, south of Junction City.

OAC is open to all youths in the ages 10-12 bracket.

Mornings will be spent on various field trips with instructors, getting a hands-on feel for how Kansas wildlife and plants live together. Afternoons will be spent learning about several general interest areas of the Kansas outdoors.

In the evenings, youngsters may be out prowling for owls, stargazing or watching bats gobble bugs. Daily swims are always on the agenda, and kids will get to sit around a campfire, eat smores and tell stories. One evening is reserved for a friendly fishing competition.

A day-trip to the Milford Nature Center and Fish Hatchery is also scheduled.

Space is limited, and the registration deadline is July 10.
