Show to feature spiritual work by Lawrence artist

The work of Lawrence artist Ann Nunley will be featured at Unity Art Gallery through Aug. 31.

An opening reception for the show is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. July 27 at the gallery, 900 Madeline Lane.

Nunley’s watercolors and acrylics explore spiritual use of symbols, color and form.

She received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Kansas University’s design department in 1963. After graduation, she worked as a painter before moving into the field of transpersonal psychology. In 2000, she received a doctorate from Greenwich University in Energy Medicine and Transpersonal Psychology.

InPlay Theatre to stage play set in Kansas City

Kansas City, Mo. — Kansas City’s InPlay Theatre Company will present “Nothing Comes To Sleepers …,” a new play by InPlay artistic director Jacqee Gafford.

The play will run Thursday through Aug. 9 at Just Off Broadway Theatre, 3051 Central, in downtown Kansas City.

“Nothing Comes To Sleepers …” takes place in a Kansas City beauty salon on April 4, 1968, the day Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. There will be an audience talkback with the cast and playwright after the performances on the first and third Fridays of the play, July 25 and Aug. 1, respectively.
