Area fishing report

Clinton Lake (7-17) — Water 82 degrees and .4 feet above normal pool. Channel catfish excellent with lots of fish being caught over baited areas using nightcrawlers, livers and prepared baits. Common carp good using nightcrawlers and stinkbait over baited areas. Crappie fair with most being caught trolling Hot N Tots or Rattletraps. Some being caught on minnows or jig and nightcrawler. White bass fair. Some still being caught around marina using jigs, minnows and spinners.

Perry Lake (7-18) — Water 82 degrees and 2.8 feet below normal pool. Channel catfish fair, Hog troughs producing some fish on a variety of baits. Feeders in operation at 7 and 8 a.m., noon and 7 and 8 p.m. Sauger poor on rocky points with a jig and minnow on the bottom on 10-12 feet of water. White bass fair on rocky points with twisters and small spinners. White crappie poor with tube jigs and/or minnows. Fish are scattered in summer pattern.

Douglas State Lake (7-17) — Water 86 degrees. Bluegill excellent on pieces of nightcrawlers or crickets under bobber or artificial flies. Channel catfish good with most being taken on nightcrawlers, Bee-Jay and poultry livers. A 22-pounder was taken on a green sunfish. Crappie good. Most are small and are more catchable in early morning and late eening on minnows, worms or jigs. Flathead catfish good on green sunfish and goldfish. Green sunfish excellent on pieces of nightcrawler under bobber. Largemouth bass fair on live minnows, plastic worms, spinnerbaits and large jigs. Fish feeders are operational.

Leavenworth State Lake (7-17) — Channel catfish good on nightcrawlers, poultry liver, Bee-Jay around feeders. Largemouth bass fair on plastic worms, spinnerbaits, shallow-running crankbaits, nightcrawlers and minnows. Wiper fair casting bucktail jigs and rattletraps into surfacing schools chasing shad. Note: Wiper length limit is 18 inches. Aeration system on and feeders operational.

Lone Star Lake (7-17) — Bluegill good on pieces of worm under bobber. Channel catfish good on prepared baits. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits and plastic worms.

Lake Shawnee (7-17) — Channel catfish good on nightcrawlers, chicken liver and dough bait. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits, shallow-running crankbaits and plastic worms.
