6News video: Art a la Carte

Friday night at the South Park Recreation Center, E.M.U. Theatre opened “Living in Pieces,” a pair of one-act plays called “Girlz” and “The Rattler.” “Girlz” explores women’s psyches through a tapestry of monologues spoken by nine females. “The Rattler” examines humans’ relationships to power structures. The shows continue tomorrow evening.

Belly dancers from Lawrence’s Middle Eastern dance troupe Ragshidad will perform the ninth annual Cairo on the Kaw Saturday and Sunday. The dance and musical revue is themed “The Classics” and will include both traditional Middle Eastern folk tunes as well as popular American songs like the theme from “I Dream of Genie.”

And if you missed their work during last week’s Downtown Gallery Walk, you can still check out the Lawrence Art Guild’s all-member show at the Lawrence Public Library. It’s up through the end of July.
