Nina D. Buskirk

Services for Nina D. Buskirk, 94, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Buskirk died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.

She was born Jan. 16, 1909, in Barry, Ill., the daughter of William and Arminta (Parrack) Predmore. She had lived in Lawrence since 1992 after moving here from Fall Creek, Ill.

Mrs. Buskirk was fountain manager for S.S. Kresge stores in Hannibal, Mo., and Des Moines, Iowa, for 34 years. Before that, she had operated the Original Becky Thatcher Cafe in the Becky Thatcher Home in Hannibal.

She was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star and Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, both in Hannibal. She was past president of Navy Mothers of America and was a member of American Legion Auxiliary No. 222 in Barry.

She married Thurman Medaris and later Herschel Buskirk. They both died earlier.

Survivors include a son, William J. Medaris, Lawrence; a grandchild; four great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to First Christian Church or White Shrine of Jerusalem, both of Lawrence, sent in care of the funeral home.
