Wilbur M. Criss Sr.

? Services for Wilbur M. Criss Sr., 89, Eudora, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary — Eudora Chapel. Military graveside services will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.

Mr. Criss died Saturday, July 5, 2003, at the home of his son in Eudora.

He was born Jan. 10, 1914, in Jefferson County, the son of William and Gladys Deskins (Leaman) Criss. He had lived in the area for 50 years. He lived the last two years in South Carolina.

Mr. Criss was a retired automobile mechanic and had worked for Jim Clark Motors in Lawrence and for Pickens Motor Company.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the Battle of the Bulge in Europe. He was a member of Post 2709 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Scranton.

Survivors include two daughters, Lois Ball, Columbia, S.C., and Betty Clark, Lawrence; a son, Wilbur Jr., Eudora; two stepdaughters, Cheri Klindt and Donna Henderson, both of Lawrence; three stepsons, Kelly Wheeler, Jerry Wheeler and Kerry Wheeler, all of Lawrence; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence division of the Salvation Army, sent in care of the mortuary.
