Jayhawk Invitational opens today

More or less, it’s an indoor version of the Kansas Relays without high school competitors.

The Jayhawk Invitational today and Saturday at Anschutz Pavilion will feature track and field athletes from junior colleges, small colleges and major universities.

Today’s competition will feature NAIA schools and any junior college that did not place its men or women in the top 15 at the 2002 NJCAA Indoor meet.

Field events will begin at 11 a.m. with running events scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

Saturday will feature NCAA schools, plus any junior college that placed its men or women in the top 15 at last year’s NJCAA Indoor.

Saturday’s field events will begin at 10 a.m. with the running events set to start at noon.

No admission will be charged. Parking is limited today to the garage north of Allen Fieldhouse. All campus lots will be open Saturday.
