Sellner services

Services for Esther S. Sellner, 85, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lawrence Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in West Lawn & Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Omaha, Neb.

Mrs. Sellner died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at her daughter’s home in Lawrence. She was cremated.

She was born May 22, 1917, in Elgin, N.D., the daughter of John and Christine (Hensel) Schultz. She graduated from high school in Rolette, N.D., in 1937 and received her nursing degree from Good Samaritan Hospital in Rugby, N.D. She lived in El Cajon, Calif., from 1954 to 1974, when she moved to Omaha. She moved to Lawrence in September.

Mrs. Sellner was a nurse and served during World War II on USS Hope hospital ship. She was a private duty nurse and homemaker after the war. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in El Cajon, Calif., and a Methodist church in Omaha for 28 years. She was also a member of Women’s Auxiliary and volunteered at church.

She married Robert Hewitt Sellner on Oct. 5, 1946, in Trinidad, British Columbia. He died Aug. 19, 1990.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Ann Old, Lawrence; a son, Michael James Sellner, Omaha; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Southern Care Hospice, 1440 Wakarusa Drive, Lawrence 66049, or sent in care of the funeral home.
