Sellers services
Services for Alta Sellers, 86, Merced, Calif., will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Sellers died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Mercy Dominican Hospital in Merced.
She was born May 26, 1916, in Hagerman, N.M., the daughter of Volney and Huldah (Galloway) Motley.
Mrs. Sellers graduated from Garnett High School and taught in Garnett for a year. She moved to Lawrence in 1935 and worked at various stores in downtown Lawrence, including Kress’s, Montgomery Ward, Independent Laundry and Miller Furniture. She moved to California in 1998.
She attended Lawrence Free Methodist Church.
She married Roy A. Sellers on April 22, 1935. He died May 14, 1986.
Survivors include a son, Richard Sellers, Lawrence and Coos Bay, Ore.; a daughter, Marylin Brewster, LaGrange, Calif.; a brother, Floyd Motley, Montrose, Colo.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Bible Chapel or Lawrence Free Methodist Church, sent in care of the funeral home.
