Overland Park ? Lawrence High senior Aaron Madill improved to 26-0 after winning the 160-pound title Saturday at the Blue Valley Northwest Invitational.

The Lions finished 11th overall and wrestled without heavyweight Kenny Poeverlein, who was sick.

Free State junior Brett Shoffner led the Firebirds to a seventh-place showing, placing second at 152-pounds. He was one of four Firebirds to medal.

Shoffner was pinned in the final by Overland Park Aquinas’ Drew Ibarra, the top-ranked wrestler in Class 6A.

“That’s three weeks in a row he’s wrestled very well,” coach Darrel Andrew said.
